Brain Breaks

In the excitement of heading to Dr. Jean's Rock, Rhyme, Write & Read Seminar tomorrow, I decided to write my first blog post about brain breaks and other great videos that I use in my classroom! I don't know about you, but YouTube is an every day tool for our class! We are so sad when our internet isn't working properly or when YouTube decides not to work. We literally use it for everything- math videos, sight word videos, phonics videos, anything and everything we can! Our newest favorite is the Sid Shuffle. My kids beg for us to do this video when I mention that I think it's time for a brain break. It gets them up and moving and, I admit, it's also a break for me. Three minutes watching them dance is time well spent in my book! Here's a clip of them and their awesome dance moves during the Sid Shuffle:
So the quality isn't the best.. but you can see how much they love it, especially the "jump, jump, wiggle ya rump, and walk it our the granny!" hysterical! They especially love it when I do it with them, but I'll spare you all a video of that..

Another favorite is Tooty Ta! Who doesn't love seeing 5-year-olds end up with their thumbs up, elbows back, feet apart, knees together, eyes shut, tongue out, and turning around in circles? The first time I saw kids doing this video was during one of my practicum classes and I was literally in tears! I crack up every time my kids do it. They have no shame! If you don't know what Tooty Ta is, you are missing out and I pity you! Go look it up right. now.

For a look at all of my class's favorite brain break videos, check out this link! It includes the Sid Shuffle, Tooty Ta, the Banana Song, the stretching song and tons more fun videos that your students of almost any age will love!

What is your class's favorite brain break video? Please share and let us know!
